Modern Slavery Statement
Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement
This Modern Slavery Statement sets out the steps taken by Shepherd's Bush Movers to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our operations and supply chains. As a moving and relocation services provider, we recognise our responsibility to act ethically, uphold human rights, and ensure that exploitation has no place in our business or the wider industry.
Our Zero-Tolerance Policy
Shepherd's Bush Movers has a clear and unequivocal zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of modern slavery, forced labour, servitude, human trafficking, and child labour. We will not knowingly work with any individual, contractor, or organisation that engages in, facilitates, or turns a blind eye to such practices.
All employees, workers, and suppliers are expected to conduct business in a manner that respects the dignity, safety, and freedom of every person. Breaches of this policy are treated as serious misconduct and may result in disciplinary action, termination of contracts, and, where appropriate, reporting to the relevant authorities.
Our Business and Supply Chains
Shepherd's Bush Movers provides domestic and commercial moving services, storage support, and associated logistics. Our supply chains include subcontracted labour, vehicle and equipment providers, packaging and materials suppliers, and facilities and maintenance contractors. We recognise that risks of modern slavery can arise in low-skilled labour, subcontracted services, and goods production, and we are committed to managing these risks proactively.
Due Diligence and Supplier Audits
We conduct due diligence on new and existing suppliers to assess their approach to labour standards and human rights. This includes verifying their identity, reviewing their employment practices where appropriate, and assessing the geographic and sector-specific risks associated with their operations.
Shepherd's Bush Movers is implementing a risk-based programme of supplier audits to help ensure compliance with our standards. These audits may include site visits, review of employment records, and discussions with workers where feasible and appropriate. Where a supplier falls short of our expectations, we will require corrective action within a reasonable timeframe. If meaningful improvements are not made, we will consider suspending or ending the relationship.
Training and Awareness
We are committed to increasing awareness of modern slavery risks among our staff, particularly those involved in procurement, recruitment, and supplier management. Training is designed to help employees recognise potential signs of exploitation, understand our zero-tolerance policy, and know how to escalate concerns.
Our induction and ongoing training programmes reinforce the importance of human rights, ethical conduct, and compliance with relevant legislation. Managers are expected to lead by example and foster a culture where concerns can be raised without fear.
Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing
Shepherd's Bush Movers encourages anyone connected with our operations, including employees, agency workers, contractors, and suppliers, to report concerns about possible modern slavery or unethical labour practices. Concerns can be raised through internal reporting lines or directly to senior management.
Reports will be treated seriously and handled confidentially as far as is reasonably possible. We will not tolerate retaliation or victimisation of any person who raises a concern in good faith. All reports will be investigated, and appropriate remedial action will be taken if wrongdoing is identified.
Measuring Effectiveness
To assess the effectiveness of our measures to prevent modern slavery, we will monitor indicators such as audit findings, the number and nature of reported concerns, supplier performance, and training completion rates. These insights will inform updates to our procedures and risk assessments.
Annual Review and Continuous Improvement
This Modern Slavery Statement will be reviewed annually by the leadership of Shepherd's Bush Movers to ensure it remains effective, relevant, and aligned with legal requirements and best practice. As our business and supply chains evolve, we will continue to refine our approach, strengthen due diligence, and enhance transparency.
Shepherd's Bush Movers is committed to continuous improvement in the fight against modern slavery and human trafficking, and to working collaboratively with employees, suppliers, and other stakeholders to uphold the highest standards of ethical conduct.
